London, UK. 7th September, 2016. Gill Thompson, whose brother David Clapson, a diabetic former soldier died after his benefits were stopped at a rally at Downing St to remmember those who have died because of benefit cuts. To her right a banner lists him and other victims of benefit cuts. On day of the opening ceremony for the Paralympics in Rio the protesters called for attention to human rights for the disabled and for the new Prime Minister to make public the findings of the UN investigation into the UK for violations of Deaf and Disabled people’s rights, to scrap the Work Capability Assessment and commit to preventing future benefit-related deaths. At the end of the rally they march behind a coffin towards Parliament. Peter Marshall/Alamy Live News
