Wood- ruff & Sons, the well-known market gardeners, near Hartford, from whom we obtained the Fordhook First, write : "It is the only perfectly smooth and solid tomato of which we know that gets to market as early as the rough and un- shapely fruits of poor quality from such sorts as Early Ruby, Atlantic Prize, etc., all of which we have carefully tested and discarded for this much moie desirable variety.
