This church and ecclesiastical society, to the history of which alarge portion of the first thirty pages of this book is devoted, was for along period the only religious society in South Britain, and for thatperiod its history is largely that of the community in general. Thefollowing lists of pastors, deacons and revivals (with the exception ofthe line marked with a star) is from the Manual of the church pub-lished in 1885. PASTOES. Rev. Jehu Minor was hired Oct. 24, 1768, to preach till the firstof January following; was called Mar. 28, IJOO, and was ordainedand installed the first pastor May 24, 17G9, and was dismissed June 1,1790. Rev. Matthias Cazier was acting pastor from Aug, 1799, till 1804 Rev. Thomas Osgood was acting pastor during 1806 and a partof 1807. Rev. Bennett Tyler preached in the autumn of 1807 ; was calledin April, 1808; was ordained and installed June 1, 1808, and wasdismissed Mar
