The City Hall, on the north side of School street, east of KingsChapel, is a substantial and fireproof Renaissance building, ofwhite Concord granite, erected in 18fi2-65, at a cost of $500,000,and filled with commodious rooms for the many and costly munic-ipal departments. Ou the lawn in front stands Balls bronzestatue (erected in 1879) of Josiah Quincy, the great mayor (in1823-28), also a congressman (1805-13) and President of (1829-45).
