The Times Square branch of Daffy's, the bargain department store, is seen in New York on Thursday, August 23, 2012. The 51 year old chain announced that it will be closing all of its 19 stores in the next few months and will join other discounts chains such as Filene's Basement and Syms in discount heaven. The firm was founded by Irving Shulman in 1951 in New Jersey, originally named Daffy Dan's Bargain Town and sold off-price designer clothing. (© Richard B. Levine)
