The reconstruction of an archway leading to the Wharenui (Maori Meeting house) at Te Puia Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley at Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island in New Zealand. The Wharenui (Meeting house) is the focal point for Maori many cultural traditions. Construction of the Wharenui commenced in 1967 and completed by trainee and graduate wood carvers from the nearby Maori Arts and Crafts Institute in 1981.
