There can be very little doubt that this Phyllosoma belongs to a species of Palinurus, although it differs from P. vulgaris and P. gilchristi in not having a definite palp on the maxillule. On the other hand, it agrees with them in the proportional length of the segments of the antennular peduncle, which seems to be a very good generic character. The only species of the genus from this region is P. lo?igimamis var. maiiritianus, Miers. The great size of the Phyllosoma as compared with that of P. vulgaris is remarkable.
