Weather sculpted landscape, Cappadocia Turkey

Cappadocia, in central Anatolia is in the middle of a once active volcanic region, the landscape was created by eruptions with lava in some places up to 100 metres thick. Over millions of years, wind, rain and ice sculpted the landscape, eroding the land so that the basalt stones remained forming conical structures known locally as ‘Fairy Chimneys’.
