To make possible a comparison of the cost of engineer-janitor service in St. Louis with that of Chicago, the St. Louis Board of Educationfurnished information regarding the floor areas (determined from outside building di-mensions), yard area, lawn area, and sidewalk area as well as the number and salariesof janitors and scrubwomen, for each of nine elementary school buildings.
