A Cawnpore Memorial school was founded aboutthe same time, in memory of the tragicevents of the great mutiny; and proveditself an excellent seminary, turning outwell-trained pupils of both sexes. A theological seminary at Bareilly hasalready been mentioned in connectionwith the model community near Shah-jehanpore. In 1873 the Rev. D. WThomas succeeded, after the most stren-uous efforts, in raising an endowment ofnearly sixty thousand dollars, and abuilding fund of ten thousand.
