Martin/Orton Farm Covered Bridge in Washington County, Vermont.


The Martin/Orton Farm Covered Bridge was built in 1890 by Herman F. Townsend. The type is Queenpost. It was a private bridge known as the Orton Farm Bridge, but after changing ownership, it is now known as the Martin Bridge. It is situated east of Plainfield Village and near Marshfield, in Washington County, Vermont. The bridge spans the Winooski river. It has a cattle guard that is folded back against the wall of the interior. The bridge is 45 feet long and 10 feet wide.
