Again, on another morning, December 17th, at six oclock, Iwrite, The heavens arc beaming with aurora. The appearanceof this phenomenon is quite changed from what it has the aurora shoots up in beams scattered over the wholecanopy, all tending to meet at zenith. Plow multitudinous arethe scenes presented in one hour by the aurora! This morningthe changes are very rapid and magnificent. Casting the eye inone direction, I view the instantaneous flash of the aurora shoot-ing up and spreading out its beautiful rays, gliding this way, thenreturning, swinging to and fro like the pendulum of a mightyclock. I cast my eyes to another point; there instantaneouschanges are going on.
