An Italian rapier, circa 1620/30 Double-edged thrusting blade with strong ridges on both sides. Iron hilt (one bar broken at the base) with shell guard retained by screws on the inside. Iron grip set off by baluster, with (earlier) pommel decorated with an ornamental relief.
