For wintering under glass, sow in the second and last week in September ; transplant thick- ly into a cold pit or frame ; give plenty of air in mild weather, and cover up well in very severe. Again, sow in February on a hot-bed, and transplant in April. For Cauliflower, the ground should be well prepared by trenching, incorporating at the same time a good share of rotten manure. Select new ground, if possible, as Cauliflower rarely succeeds on ground which has been cropped year after year with other kinds of vegetables. Plant in rows, plants 20 inches asunder, and 2 feet between the rows. Carrara Rock. The earliest variety grown, producing perfectly formed, compact, and almost snow-white heads of the finest quality.
