Met Office communications. Met Office worker receiving teleprinter weather reports from ships at sea. The broadcast channel being received here is marked as Burnham Radio. The Met Office is the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. A variety of communication methods have been used during its history. Teleprinters allow typed messages to be sent as a signal and printed at the receiving end. The keyboard can be used to type in messages for transmission.
