At two oclock, Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 1860, thedelegates to the Republican state convention assembled at Sher-mans Hall, Third Street and Court Avenue, Des ]\ contemporary accounts of the convention concur in de-claring- it the largest in point of numbers held in the Stateup to that time by the Republican party or by any other houses of the Legislature had adjourned, as many of itsmembers were accredited delegates.
