The Vince Lombardi statue, foreground, and the Curley Lambeau statue at Lambeau Field, home to the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. Lombardi was a long time highly successful head coach of the Packers. Lambeau was the team's founder, a player and also a long time head coach for whom the stadium is named. The stadium opened in 1957 and is owned by the City of Green Bay and the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District. It was initially named City Stadium or New City Stadium but was renamed Lambeau Field in in 1965.
