Bone stem cell research. Researcher using a high-powered microscope to study bone cell activity as part of research to improve bone and cartilage grafting and regeneration techniques. The aim is to introduce bone stem cells on a protective polymer support scaffold material during joint replacement operations. This would be an alternative to using donor bone, and could also to treat various bone disorders. Photographed in 2010, at the School of Medicine at the University of Southampton, UK.
