A Swiss flintlock pistol, circa 1640 Two-stage smooth-bore barrel in 14 mm calibre, octagonal then round. Engraved initials "NPM" and "MFM" on the underside of the barrel. Florally engraved flintlock with internal frizzen spring. Blackened fruit wood stock with fire-gilt bronze fittings, the pommel sculpted like a lion's head with the engraved coat of arms of the patrician family Meyer von Schauensee from Lucerne.
