A trolleypole provided with a drum upon which is wound a trolley cord. Aspring in the interior of the drum keeps a tension on the cord. Thetrolley wheel is forced upward by a small spring, which, when thetrolley comes off, throws the trolley wheel forward, and, by means ofa long lever, latches the drum and prevents the trolley from rising andengaging with the overhead construction.
