Gran Telescopio Canarias. Worker in the control room of the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GranTeCan) telescope at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, La Palma island, Canary Islands. This reflecting telescope has been the world's largest single-aperture optical telescope since it opened in 2009. Operated by institutions from Spain, the USA and Mexico, it is located at an altitude of 2267 metres on the edge of the Caldera de Taburiente region of the island.
