Castorologia, as its sub-title indicates, is devoted more to the historicalaspect of the beaver than to its natural history, and is less the result oforiginal investigation and thought than are the former LE BEAUS MARVELOUS an old print. Shaggycoat is an attractive popular animal story, rather than a seriouswork of reference. All of these books contain excellent illustrations from photographsand drawings, giving a very clear idea of the appearance of beaver dams,huts, canals, etc. Morgans and Martins, in addition, have valuablemaps and diagrams. 394 REPORT OF THE FOREST, FISH AND GAME COMMISSIONER.
