Overlapping 31 Another characteristic of the distributions shown in Table XIis the absence of clearly marked modes. Table XII is a group-ing of the per cent columns of Table XI into los and 20s. Fromthis grouping wide modes of marked character are shown. Figs. I to 7 show the same facts graphically. From the natureof these figures the test material appears to have been capableof revealing satisfactorily the spelling ability of grades 3, 4, and5. Figs. I to 7 are the surfaces of frequency of spelling abilitywith the Selected List. In each of them the horizontal scaleshows percentages correct; the vertical scale shows the per centof children having each rating for percentage correct, by stepsof 10.
