One of his attendants being moremagnificently mounted and gorgeously appareled than therest, Anwari asked a bystander who he was. On being toldthat it was the court poet, the youth, fired with ambition,prepared a poem, which was presented to the sovereign thenext day. The Sultan, finding it full of praise of himself,was so pleased that he offered the young man a position atonce, which was accepted, Anwari attended him until hisdeath. He wrote a few long poems and some simple greatest romantic poet of Persia was
