The World War—Owing to the differing conditions,it is impossible to present Chautauqua countys part inthe World War in such a way as in that of the CivilWar. In the latter, entire companies and regiments weremade up within its borders. Their members came to-gether in squads and companies from their own citywards and country villages; they were schoolmates andfellow-workmen, and when war was on, they werefamiliar associates embarking together in a new adven-ture.
