An Italian etched helmet skull, circa 1570 One-piece forged skull of a close helmet. The distinct comb with hole to attach the crest, the plume socket is missing. Openings for the visor axes on the sides. The neck with distinct bead to be attached to the collar, continuous lining rivets. The comb and the skull with lavishly etched decoration. Each with one central band with grotesque decoration, between that a small cartouche with mythological scenes. On both sides flanked by gilt bands with tendrils.
