The patron Saintsof the family, Cosimo and Damiano, figure prominentlyin the first group, and the Annunciation bears thebadge of the Medici—three feathers held together bya ring. Both of these little paintings are executedwith the brilliancy and finish of a miniature, andare among the most exquisite examples of temperain existence. It was evidentlya favourite with the Medici, and we find a thirdversion in another altar-piece which Fra Lippo paintedby their command, for the nunnery of of all the works which he executed for thesegenerous patrons, the best-known is the delightfullittle Uffizi picture of two boy-angels holding upthe Child before his Mother, who sits with claspedhands, in front of an open window.
