The deltoid muscle wraps around the shoulder, running from the clavicle (collar bone) and the acromion of the scapula (shoulder blade) to the deltoid tuberosity on the humerus (upper arm bone). The acromion is the ridge along the top of the scapula. The large pectoralis major muscle (not clearly shown) runs from the clavicle and sternum (breastbone) to the humerus. The deltoid muscle works with other muscles to enable a wide range of arm movements.
