Memorial to the 'Afghan' pioneer cameleers at Aiice Springs Passenger Terminal for The Ghan, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia


Plaque below the cameleer sculpture commemorates the 1980 opening of the reconstructed railway line between Alice Springs and Adelaide. The northbound line onwards to Darwin was constructed 2001-2004, enabling a north-south journey of nearly 3000 km.
