Market conditions during the past week have been very inactive. Carna- tions are very scarce, those of good quality selling at $1,150 per 100. Roses are shortening up and selling at good prices and the call for them is good. Sweet peas are very poor. Gladioli, such as Panama, America. Hally, Mrs. Frances King, are very plentiful. E'aster lilies and rubrums sell slowly. Sweet sultans are very good stock. The heat of the past week has left business very flat. NOTES. Business at Philip L. Carbone's is better than last year at this time and August will be a banner month. A large importation of Italian goods for the trade have been received, and Mr. Ruppert, traveling representative, left for New^ York, where samples will be shown. Chas. E. EVans and wife, who start- ed recently on an auto trip to Niagara Falls, were obliged to return home on account of Mr. Evans being taken ill. They will start soon on another trip via auto to Mjiine resorts. Wm. Penn has returned from what he describes the most enjoyable four weeks' outing' he ever had. Grand Lake Stream, Me., being the attractive spot. James Casey, of The Rosary, reports a wonderful business, considering the season. He is cutting very fine gladioli at his ranee at Reading. H. M. Robinson & Co. report satisfac- tory trade, Isut experience difficulty in getting sufficient good stock to meet requirements. B. A.
