Togo Shrine is dedicated to one of Japan's most decorated navy admirals, lies just off the chaotic thoroughfare of Takeshita-dori in Harajuku. Yet its inner courtyard and grounds provide a quiet sanctuary from the bustle of the streets nearby. The lovely Japanese-style garden to the east of the main shrine consists of pond, a wooden zigzag bridge, a trellis and lanterns all combine to make a picturesque scene. The garden is the perfect place to gather courage before returning to the crush of the Harajuku neighborhood.
