Born at Capri in theDiocese of Sorrento, Italy, October30rd 1875, he is only forty years of belongs the Franciscan Provinceof, Principato (Naples). Endowedwith exceptional intellectual abilityhe taught Holy Scripture for elevenyears in the Collegio Sant Antonio,Rome. Elected Definitor general in 1908, he held that office untilOctober 1911. He was devoting himself to the ministry of souls inthe United States when in 1913he was called upon to fill the ex-tremely delicate position of Custosfor the Holy Land.
