Scale bar = 100 ixm. of the zooid at about the level of the prox- imal edge of the frontal membrane. Ovi- cells are globular, attached at the inner dis- tal angle of zooids, and oriented more or less horizontally. As they mature, they de- velop a broad, thickened outer band. Brown embryos could still be seen in the slide preparations examined. Diagnosis. Colonies and zooids large, ovicells globular, avicularia dimorphic, both small and large avicularia sway- backed, large avicularia very elongate, at- tached by short peduncles to outer sides of zooids at the level of the base of the frontal membrane.
