The trucks are of the No. 27-G-1 type. -**»- GASOLINE APPARATUS FOR SOLDERING RAIL-BONDS The efficiency of a rail bond depends so largely on the de-gree of contract obtained with the rail that even the bestbonds must give poor results if not properly installed. Wheresoldered bonds are used the danger from poor labor isgreatly reduced and excellent results can be obtained by em-ploying a suitable soldering INTERIOR OF TIFFIN, FOSTORIA & EASTERN CAR SOLDERING BONDS ON THE LONG ISLAND RAILROAD suited for such purposes, as it is located half-way between theterminals. Twelve cars have been in operation, all of whichare arranged for baggage as well as passenger service. The type of car illustrated in the accompanying photo-graphs was recently furnished to the railway by the J. G. BrillCompany, and has the grooveless post semi-convertible sys-tem. It has a seating capacity of 32 in the passenger com-partment and 8 in the smoking compartment. The seats inthe smoking compartment are arranged to fold against thesides. The windows at the rear ofthe carintheillustration are raisedinto pockets in the side roof andshow how well adapted the car isto summer service. The seats,which are of the builders manu-facture, are 36 ins. long and havearm rests at the aisle ends, and asthe window sill is too low forthe elbows of adult passengers, aneat arm rest is bracketed to theside panels.
