Pterosaur size comparison, artwork. A six metre tall modern day male Masaai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi) on the right, depicted next to a human and a pair of azhdarchid pterosaurs. The Azhdarchidae family lived between 108-65 million years ago and included some of the largest animals that ever flew. Some species were estimated to have wingspans of over 11 metres and stood over nine metres tall. When on the ground, it is thought they walked using all four limbs and preyed on small animals by stalking.
