St. Nicholas Belltower is all that is left of the town of Kalyzin, Russia, that was flooded to an articificial lake power plant.
The belfry of Kalyasin is the only remains of a part of the town by the same name that was totally flooded in order to build an artificial lake for a power-plant in belflry of the former St Nicholas tower was standing on a small hill, so it could survive and nowadays it makes a great landmark for all ships that pass. Kalyazin was a town of inhabitants, 30 km west of Uglich, directely at the river Volga.
