Lithograph colour print circa 1884 depicting the busy port of New Orleans on the Mississippi River as it appeared in the 19th century. Entitled "The Levee New Orleans", it shows goods stacked at the riverside before being loaded onto a string of waiting paddle-wheel steamboats. Paddle-wheelers dominated trade on the Mississippi for most of the 1800s. Print by Currier & Ives, artist William Walker.
