The canyon of Fjaðrárgljúfur is located near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, in Iceland. The canyon was formed by the river Fjaðrá. The river rises in the highlands and has dug itself up to 100 meters deep into the palagonite rock. From the main path, paths branch off again and again directly to the cliff edge, but the really dangerous narrow trails may no longer be entered.
