There are a number of points in which this pumpis similar to the 8-inch pump, and in which it will beliable to the same troubles. It has the same arrangement of hollow^ piston-rod,reversing stem and valve, and a similar bushing in whichthis valve works, and as these parts perform practicallythe same function in this pump that they do in the other,any irregularity in their action will produce practicallythe same effect.
