River Dart water front view taken from the water, looking across at at Bayard's Cove Fort and Quay with surrounding houses, tourists, Above Town and steep valley. This picturesque waterfront setting is a very popular location for film makers. Bayard's Cove fort, just at the end of the quay, was built at the narrowest part of the River Dart estuary in 1534 to protect the busy port. At ground level are a series of gun ports with commanding views which can be explored today. There would have been steps to an upper walk way, a view point and location to fire muskets at potential marauders.
