US Capitol (centre), Washington DC, USA, satellite image. The United States Capitol is the government building of the USA, housing both the Senate and the House of Representatives. It was built in 1793 and has been rebuilt several times since then. It is surrounded by extensive gardens and many other government buildings. The two buildings along the eastern side (top) are the US Supreme Court (upper left) and one of the Library of Congress buildings (upper centre).
