Child labour in America. Boys working in a spinning room at Bibb Mill No. 1, Macon, Georgia, USA. They are so small they have to climb up on the spinning frame to mend the broken threads and put back the empty bobbins. Photographed by Lewis W. Hine, a photojournalist, on 19th January 1909. Hine became an investigative photographer for the National Child Labor Committee in 1908 and spent four years documenting conditions for child workers in factories, mines and fields.
