The Palazzo Pubblico of Siena (also called Palazzo Comunale) was built between 1297 and 1310 by the Government of the Nine of the Republic of Siena, as its seat. This function is also reflected today, as the seat of the municipal administration, as well as the Civic Museum. It stands on the Piazza del Campo and is flanked by the slender Torre del Mangia. Inside it preserves masterpieces from the golden age of Sienese art.
