Sewage treatment operator carries out essential cleaning and maintainance work on some of 1400 nitrifying filters at Severn Trent Waters Wanlip sewage works in Leicester 1500 litres of waste water pass through the filters per second out of 150 million litres per day This is where live bacteria digest the ammonia content in the waste and is one of the final stages before the cleaned water is released into the River Soar.
