The cars are all equipped with sanitary hand pole consist of loops of light steel tubing with the endsriveted to a sleeve which fits over the hand pole. The sleevecontains a spiral spring, which holds the loops up under thelower deck out of the way when not used by standing passen-gers. The part of the tubing which is grasped by the handis coated with baked white enamel, which is easily cleanedand Interborough Steel Cars—H< projection, which lies in front of the face of the plug, therefore, cannot be inserted on any car which iscoupled to another behind it and can only be used on the lastcar in the train. The contacts on the doors consist of two standard controllerfingers bearing on the top and bottom of a round woodenrod, which is flexibly connected to the back edge of eachdoor near the floor. A brass collar is fitted on this rod nearthe outer end and when the door is completely closed, thisring is between the two spring contacts and completes thecircuit. MISCELLANEOUS FEATURES The arrangement of apparatus in the motormans cab isthe same as in the 1907 type cars. The door enclosing themaster controller and brake valve swings out and locks into adoor on the opposite panel of the end bulkhead.
