Icy winter weather - causes dramatic multiple vehicle collison - Near Ottery St mary, East Devon, UK. Car Crashes into House - Fluxon, Ottery St Mary, Devon. A Renault Scenic has come of the road at Fluxton, nr Ottery St Mary ,East Devon this morning, and crashed into the side of Apple cottage. Causing the road between Ottery St Mary and Fluxton to be closed off due to Structural damage been done to the house - the Renault people carrier was heading towards Fluxton village centre from lottery st mary and came off the road on a right hand bend - Sliding sideways and colliding with the house puncturing a 6ft by 8ft wide hole - and causing serious structural damage to the side of the Cob-walled property. Just after Mrs Rider had helped the mother and her two daughters out of the vehicle - another car came around the corner and collided with the Passenger side rear quarter. Luckily no-one was injured, Mrs Rider was at home in the kitchen at the time, heard a massive Bang - and her instant was to duck, “I found my self ducking - Wondering what had just happened” The car was been driven by a female in her 30’s with two children, Who were un harmed - Devon and cornwall fire brigade attended to make the scene safe, as well as Paul Seager the Building control Surveyor for East Devon DC - “the road will be closed for the remainder of the day whilst we make the building safe” The Car slid on ice that had accumulated on the Carriageway, united Utilities attended for fear that there may be a gas leak - But this was not the case, as the vehicle had just missed the Main pipe.
