A mammouth restoration project, that could take up to twenty years to complete, is underway on the forgotten ancient stone walls that were once part of an intriguing track way, which pre-dates the railways. FULL STORY HERE: .Imagine a giant 3D jigsaw puzzle with no instructions, and you have an idea of the challenge facing these traditional dry-stone wallers, who are hard at work restoring the Cauldon Plateway, a relic of StaffordshireÕs industrial history. ItÕs back-breaking work, as each stone has to be returned as close as possible to its original position according to weight and size, with bigger, heavier stones towards the bottom and a rounded ÒcopingÓ stone at the very top.
