A calf eats hay on a trailer before being taken to a farm in Krohnemann and Joe Brien of The Lands at Hillside Farms partnered with another non-profit ,Timshel Wildland, for a calf donation program. This partnership and program demonstrates regenerative farming in action, organically driven by passion for environmental issues and the humane treatment of animals. The program removes the need for calves going to auction or a sale barn in which the end result of that sold calf is unknown. In this new model, the calves will be raised on Virginia pasture to help support grassland restoration under the Savory holistic planned grazing model and will help support their 100% grass fed grass finished beef operation. They will also help in the creation of grass-fed / grass finished beef farms that need access to productive grazing cattle.
