Monks and visitors chanting and praying outside the stall of sacred bull SHAMBO at Skanda Vale Temple destined for slaughter
SHAMBO was a black Friesian sacred bull at the Hindu Skanda Vale Temple and community in rural Carmarthenshire. After testing positive for bovine tuberculosis DEFRA ordered that SHAMBO should be sent for slaughter. The images show the day when a peaceful sit down protest by monks and visitors tried and failed to prevent SHAMBO being removed and killed.
