Santa Maria de Bell-lloc d'Aro church. Santa Cristina d'Aro.
Santa Maria de Bell-place is the parish hamlet of that name. The building is very interesting and was the first to be restored after 1939. The current building was built where there had been a settlement from the Roman period as shown by the abundant remains found there. The church of Santa Maria is a primitive Romanesque building, dating from the tenth century, with a nave and head of a horseshoe inside and polygonal outside. In the middle of the ship there are vestiges of a pavement in opus Signium. The facade, very upset, in the west. It seems that originally was built with two opposed apses, unusual among us but has precedents in early Christian churches of North Africa. On the north side the remains were located a circular building that connected with the church. After being excavated are believed to be the remains of an early Christian baptistery of the sixth century. The rectory, a remarkable eighteenth century mansion hides part of the church.
